Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Feb. 23 to March 2:

A witness called in a possible impaired driver who was swerving all over the road on Highway 101 near Leek Road. The witness followed the suspect vehicle until it stopped at a business in the 800 block of Gibsons Way, at which point a member arrived to speak to the driver. The elderly driver advised that she'd been distracted by the rain as the volume on her new hearing aids was improperly adjusted. A driver's licence review has been requested from ICBC.

A single-vehicle incident occurred in the 3400 block of Highway 101 after the driver of the vehicle looked down to change the radio station and went off the road. The vehicle, which is not believed to have been speeding, hit a stump that acted like a ramp for one side of the vehicle, and caused it to flip over onto its side. The driver received minor injuries, but the vehicle was totalled. The driver was issued a violation ticket for failing to keep right and the vehicle was towed.

A driver following another vehicle in the 11300 block of Highway 101 reported the first vehicle had suddenly veered to the left, gone off the road and flipped over, landing right side up. Fire crews and paramedics attended and removed the driver from the vehicle. The driver was alert and conscious and sustained minor injuries. The driver admitted to falling asleep at the wheel. As neither speed nor alcohol were factors, the file is being referred to ICBC.

A vehicle heading northbound on the Port Mellon Highway near McNair Forest Road collided with a southbound semi-truck. Witnesses advised that the northbound vehicle was driving erratically before the collision, and that the driver walked away from the scene. The driver was located nearby and arrested for impaired driving and failing to remain at the scene. The driver was also taken to hospital for some injuries. The vehicle was heavily damaged, and the semi-truck sustained some minor damage.

A three-vehicle incident occurred on Highway 101 near Heather Road after the first vehicle stopped suddenly to make a left hand turn into a driveway. The second vehicle was able to stop behind vehicle number one, but vehicle number three failed to stop in time and collided in the rear of vehicle two, which then collided into the rear of vehicle one. The drivers of the first two vehicles were treated for minor injuries, but the driver and passenger of the third vehicle were uninjured. The driver of the first vehicle received a violation ticket for improper left turn and the driver of the third vehicle received a violation ticket for following too closely.
