Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Oct. 11 to 18: Sometime between Oct. 9 and 11, a thief cut through the roof of a convertible vehicle parked in the 400 block of King Road.

Sometime between Oct. 9 and 11, a thief cut through the roof of a convertible vehicle parked in the 400 block of King Road. The thief stole the face plate off the car stereo and some change.

Overnight on Oct. 12, a vandal damaged the door of a building in the 5400 block of Chelpi Avenue by nearly pulling off the door handle and chipping at the door with an unknown object. No entry was gained and nothing else was damaged.

On Oct. 12, a shoplifter was caught at a business in the 5500 block of Highway 101 after staff witnessed the suspect place items in a bag and leave the premises without paying. The suspect was apprehended by staff and detained until police arrived. The suspect was arrested for theft. ??

A possible impaired driver was reported near School Road and Marine Drive after the caller witnessed a vehicle collide into an empty parked car. Officers located the suspect driver at the scene and the driver was given a roadside alcohol-screening test. The driver failed two tests and was given a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and his vehicle was impounded.

A possible impaired driver was reported on Highway 101 near Crowe Road after a witness saw the vehicle swerving all over the road, crossing the centre line and almost ending up in the ditch. RCMP located the suspect driver in Wilson Creek and conducted a traffic stop. The driver advised he was fatigued and suffering from a bad flu. There were no signs of any alcohol or drug impairment, so no violation ticket was issued, but the driver was cautioned to make responsible decisions when operating a motor vehicle.

Just after midnight on Oct. 16, a resident in the 1300 block of Chaster Road investigated a noise from outside the house and observed an unknown male suspect rifling through the resident's unsecured vehicle. The suspect exited the vehicle and darted behind the house.

A second resident came out and both observed the suspect head down a neighbouring driveway and get into a grey or silver Jetta, before driving away. Nothing was stolen during this incident.

Sunshine Coast RCMP would like to remind residents to remove all valuables from their vehicles when unattended and to ensure their vehicles are locked.

On Oct. 17, a vandal slashed tires of a vehicle parked at the Madeira Park marina. No other damage was reported.
