Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for June 11 to 18: RCMP have recovered a number of items believed to have been stolen in April and May 2013 from cabins in the Egmont and Nelson Island.

RCMP have recovered a number of items believed to have been stolen in April and May 2013 from cabins in the Egmont and Nelson Island. Owners may claim with detailed descriptions by contacting Const. Tracy Dubnyk at 604-885-2266. Please reference file number 13-3193.

On June 11, police attended a two-vehicle accident in the 4600 block of Highway 101 in Sechelt,after a northbound vehicle made a left turn into the path of a southbound vehicle, causing a head-on collision. Fortunately, neither driver suffered serious injury, but the northbound vehicle had to be towed from the scene. The driver of the northbound vehicle was issued a violation ticket for improper left turn where no intersection.

On June 12, police witnessed a southbound vehicle on the Port Mellon Highway in Langdale driving at more than double the posted speed limit. Police pulled the vehicle over and noted the lone driver and occupant exhibiting signs of impairment by drugs and alcohol. The driver failed a roadside alcohol-screening test and was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and her vehicle was impounded for 30 days. The class 7 Learner driver was also issued violation tickets for speeding and driving contrary to restrictions.

On June 12, police responded to a report of an impaired driver in the 5700 block of Kwatamus Avenue in Sechelt. With detailed information from the witness, police located the suspect driver near Monkey Tree Lane. The driver, who had an open bottle of alcohol in her purse, failed a roadside alcohol-screening test and was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and her vehicle was impounded for 30 days. The driver was also issued a violation ticket for having an open liquor bottle in her vehicle.

On June 13, police witnessed avehicle on Sechelt Inlet Road come around a sharp corner so fast that it appeared two wheels were lifting off the road. Police stopped the vehicle and issued the driver a roadside alcohol-screening test, which resulted in a fail. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

On June 14, a witnessreportedan erratic logging truckspeeding southbound on Highway 101 from Halfmoon Bay. The truck was witnessed speeding on corners, cutting over the solid line, going throughtwo red lights and speeding well over posted limits. Police located and followed the truck in Roberts Creek andconducted a traffic stop near Burton Road in Gibsons. The lone driver and occupant, who was found to have an expireddriver's licence, was issued violation tickets for failing to stop for a red light at an intersection, speeding against a highway sign andno driver's licence.A co-worker was called to drive the truck from the scene.

On June 15, a business in the 5600 block of Cowrie Street in Sechelt reported an attempted fraud after a 50-something Caucasian male with a heavy build and white hair tried to use a suspicious looking $100 bill to purchase goods. The staff member noticed odd details on the bill and refused to take the bill. The suspect left without incident.

On June 15, a thief stole a child's size ATV from in front of a business in the 5500 block of Inlet Avenue in Sechelt. The black LIFAN ATV had red Cobra stickers and Roost stickers on the fenders and was like new. The ATV had a tire chain on it and weighs about 175 pounds.

On June 15, a shoplifter was reported at a business in the 5500 block of Highway 101 in Sechelt after staff caught the male suspect leaving the premises with a basket of unpaid goods. The suspect was initially cooperative and was taken to the store office, but then he fled on foot before police arrived. The suspect is described as a sun burnt Caucasian male wearinglarge earrings,sleeveless shirt, camouflage pants, carrying a large black and grey backpack.
