Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for July 2 to 5: Between June 20 and 30, a thief stole a 17-foot long mahogany wood kayak from a beach trailoff Lower Road inRoberts Creek.

Between June 20 and 30, a thief stole a 17-foot long mahogany wood kayak from a beach trailoff Lower Road inRoberts Creek.

The handmade kayak, which bears the owner's signature on the wood, was lockedto secure it, but the lock was cut off and stolen as well. The kayak contained a life jacket, diving flippers and some fishing tackle.

Anyone with any information about this theft is asked to contact RCMP at 604-885-2266 and referencing file number 13-4214.

Overnight on June 30, a vandal threw a beer bottle and smashed out the rear window of a vehicle parked in the 6800 block of the Sunshine Coast Highway. No entry to the vehicle was gained and no other damage was reported.

On July 3, a hit-and-run accident occurred in a parking lot in the 5700 block of Cowrie Street in Sechelt after a vehicle was damaged by what appears to have been a trailer. The damaged vehicle sustained significant damage, but no note was left by the suspect.

On July 4, police stopped a vehicle with expired licence plates on Norwest Bay Road in Sechelt. The driver also turned outtobe a suspended driver. The vehicle was towed and the driver was given a courtappearance notice fordriving while suspended as well as a violation ticket for no insurance.

On July 5, a resident in the 5700 block of Salmon Drive in Sechelt called to report a mother bear and her two cubs sleeping in a cherry tree. As the bears had not beenacting aggressively, the matter was referred to the conservation officer service.

On June 30, a canoe was found in the water near the Roberts Creek government dock. Owner may claim with detailed description by calling RCMP and referencing file number 13-4369.

Between March and mid-June, an unknown suspect attempted to break into two outbuildings in the 1000 block of Largo Road in Roberts Creek. The suspect tried to pry open a padlock and latch, but failed in both cases. No other damage was reported and nothing was stolen.
