Sunshine Coast RCMP are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person responsible for an assault at a home in the Gibsons area.
RCMP said the incident happened around 6:45 a.m. on Friday, April 24 in the 500 block of Veterans Road in Elphinstone.
A 70-year-old man told police he heard someone knocking on his door and immediately upon opening the door, a masked male punched the victim several times in the face.
The victim was able to pull the mask off of his attacker, but did not recognize him, RCMP said. After the mask was pulled off, the attacker pushed the man down a set of stairs and fled on foot.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian, 20 to 30 years old, 5-6 to 5-8, with a slim build. He was wearing all black clothing and spoke English without an accent.
