Vandals target highway signs

Sunshine Coast RCMP are reporting a case of major vandalism which saw 22 highway signs knocked down along Highway 101 last week. The incidents occurred sometime during the night of Sept. 6 or the morning of Sept. 7.


Sunshine Coast RCMP are reporting a case of major vandalism which saw 22 highway signs knocked down along Highway 101 last week.


The incidents occurred sometime during the night of Sept. 6 or the morning of Sept. 7. All of the signs were on the southbound side of the highway between Pender Harbour and Trout Lake. The cost to repair and replace the signs is estimated at $9,000.


Sunshine Coast RCMP are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact police at 604-885-2266, or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477, and quote file number 2011-6437.


District seeks greenways members


The District of Sechelt's greenways advisory committee is currently seeking individuals to join the committee.


Letters of interest are being sought from those residents who have some interest in pedestrian focused transportation and who are motivated to plan and participate in projects that promote walking and biking in Sechelt.


If interested in applying for the committee, include your telephone (fax and/or email, if available) and mailing contact information in your submitted letter to the District.

New park set to open


The District of Sechelt is getting set to open a new park in West Sechelt and is inviting the community out to celebrate Friday, Sept. 16.


The Tyler Heights park will be officially opened at 4 p.m. with refreshments, entertainment and fun for all. Sechelt council and representatives of the local area developers will also be on hand.
