The Town of Gibsons is losing its director of planning.
Andre Boel, who’s been at the helm of the planning department through much of the complex work around the George Hotel and Residences and Gospel Rock Village projects and the search for an affordable housing development site, is taking a job in Port Moody.
A release from the Town said Boel’s new position as general manager of development services at the City of Port Moody will bring him closer to his spouse, who lives in the Vancouver area.
“I have very much liked working with council, Town staff, applicants and community members for the past four years and would have enjoyed remaining in my position longer,” Boel said in the release. “I wish the council and community all the best in their continued efforts toward the realization of important Town projects, such as affordable housing and others.”
Boel’s last day with the Town will be Nov. 30.
Another senior staff member, meanwhile, is set to retire. Director of finance Ian Poole’s final day on the job will be Dec. 31.
