Tla'amin Nation congratulates Powell River council-elect members

Tla’amin Nation leadership has extended congratulations via media release to City of Powell River mayor-elect Ron Woznow and councillor candidates who topped unofficial vote results: Rob Southcott, Jim Palm, Cindy Elliott, Trina Isakson, George Doubt and Earl Almeida.

“Tla’amin Nation and the city have a successful history of cooperation and collaboration built on the foundational values in our Community Accord,” stated hegus John Hackett. “Our nation looks forward to building upon our strong relationship as we pursue programs and initiatives of shared interest over the years to come.”

Tla’amin is committed to continuing to work with the city to advance its portfolio of reconciliation projects in the region, according to the release, and shared a formal invitation to meet with elected city leadership next month to discuss shared interests and priorities for social, cultural and economic development in the region.
