Temperatures hit record lows Wednesday and Thursday

Forecasters with Environment Canada are predicting a cool Thanksgiving weekend, after two days of record-breaking low temperatures for the Sunshine Coast. Sechelt was among 41 weather stations that saw records broken on Oct. 9 and 10.

Forecasters with Environment Canada are predicting a cool Thanksgiving weekend, after two days of record-breaking low temperatures for the Sunshine Coast.

Sechelt was among 41 weather stations that saw records broken on Oct. 9 and 10.

The low Wednesday morning dipped to -0.3 C, beating a record of 1.7 C set in 1959.

The temperature went down to 1.0 early Thursday morning. The previous record was two degrees, set in 1956.

Daytime highs have been cooler than normal this week, but not record-breaking.

Environment Canada is forecasting a similar trend through the long weekend with overnight lows between four and six degrees and highs around 13. A typical low for this time of year is around 9 C and the highs are usually around 14.
