A public meeting to discuss Telus Internet and cell service in Egmont has been postponed. Telus representatives will now speak to citizens on Nov. 16 at the Egmont Community Club rather than on Oct. 19, as originally scheduled.
Citizens are hoping to get some answers from Telus about the possibility and costs of having high-speed Internet in the community. A Telus representative agreed to meet with community members.
Resident Elizabeth Schleimer recently told Coast Reporter that the lack of cell service is a detriment to locals and visitors alike. As a result, she said, Egmont is isolated in the winter because many service providers won’t go there. Cell service would also increase safety in the Skookumchuck Narrows Provincial Park, she said.
