Six teens were caught on security video damaging a large decorative Christmas tree display at the Gibsons Marina on Prowse Road just after midnight on Sunday, Dec. 3.

Reporting on the incident under the heading, “Teens Lacking in Christmas Spirit Commit Mischief,” Sunshine Coast RCMP said the video footage shows the teens “exiting a Mazda 6, taking photos of themselves and trying to pull down the approximately 20-foot-tall Christmas tree that is made out of Christmas lights.”

After pulling down several light strings, the teens are seen getting back into the car, leaving many of the bulbs broken on the ground.

RCMP Const. Karen Whitby described it as a “very non-Christmassy” act.

The car was identified as a four-door silver or grey Mazda 6 with a sunroof, spoiler, an “N” on the back and possibly after-market rims.

Police are still attempting to identify the teens and ask anyone with information about the incident to contact the Sunshine Coast RCMP, referencing file 2017-8049.
