The comment period for changes to the shíshálh swiya-wide dock management plan has been extended to Feb 16, B.C.'s Ministry of Water, Land And Resource Stewardship's website shows.
The change to the online listing happened in the mid-afternoon of Jan. 12. That date had been the second cutoff period the ministry had set for the process.
When the application was first included on the website on Nov. 24, 2023, the deadline for comments on the proposed changes was Dec. 22. An announcement that the comment date was extended into the New Year was made when representatives of the province and the Nation presented a summary of the application at a Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) board meeting on Nov. 30.
At that meeting, the board moved to ask for a comment period extension in May 2024 and that request was sent in writing to the Ministry on Dec. 21.
"This past week, the SCRD board has received a significant amount of correspondence in relation to the Dock Management Plan," a Jan. 12 social media post from the regional district said.
