On Thursday, Oct. 13, the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) board voted unanimously to adopt the Sunshine Coast-wide sustainability plan titled We Envision.

The adopted plan includes final revisions based on input received from the public and stakeholder groups.

The sustainability plan showcases our community's intent for the future. This includes our core values, a vision, and a set of targets and actions that map the way forward based on what we know today.

The tag line for We Envision is One Coast, Together in Nature, Culture and Community.

"The tag line speaks to the plan's intent which is a collaborative, region-wide action," said Julie Clark, SCRD education and outreach co-ordinator.

A collaborative team of individuals from Sunshine Coast community organizations, the school district and local governments drafted us Envision. It is a living document, to be added and changed as time and priorities show the need.

"The plan is a platform for collaborative leadership and action on a regional scale, as well as a structure for holding ourselves accountable to the medium and long term goals identified in the plan," added board chair Garry Nohr. "We also hope it provides residents and community leaders with a snapshot of where we are today and what work is needed in the future."

The team would like to thank all individuals and organizations that took the time to provide feedback on We Envision.

"The foundation of this plan is the great work that is already taking place on the Coast," said Clark. "This plan asks us all to take the next step, but it doesn't stop there, it asks us to take these steps together."
