The BC Coroner's Office is investigating a suspected drowning at a home in Selma Park.

On Thursday night, July 18 just before 5 p.m., Sunshine Coast RCMP, paramedics and the Sechelt fire department attended a residence in the 5000 block of the Sunshine Coast Highway in Selma Park for a report of a possible drowning.

Emergency crews arrived and began CPR on a 86-year-old male, who was later pronounced dead on scene, said Cpl. Steve Chubey in a news release. The lone witness reported that the male had a history heart-related medical issues and was prone to 'passing out'. Foul play has been ruled out. The cause of death has not been determined and the matter has been turned over to the coroner's office.
