Sechelt council voted May 3 to rescind its previous resolution not to release the results of the online citizen satisfaction survey.
The online survey had substantially different results from the statistically verifiable telephone citizen satisfaction survey conducted by the district, so council had voted on March 15 to keep the results under wraps.
During the May 3 regular council meeting, however, councillors heard that move wasn’t doable, as the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act stipulated the results had to be released if requested.
Sechelt resident Graham Moore did officially ask for the results on March 5.
“In short, it has been determined that the online survey results are subject to release under the legislation,” corporate officer Jo-Anne Frank wrote in her report to council, May 3.
Council unanimously decided to release the results “in the near future” via the district’s webpage.
As of Wednesday this week, the results had not been posted to the district’s website.
