Survey launched to help doctor shortage

GP FOR ME

A GP For Me wants your feedback to help pinpoint problems and find solutions for the doctor shortage on the Coast.

A GP For Me is a province-wide initiative that seeks to enhance the efficiency of individual doctor’s practices, conduct research into the doctor shortage problem in each community and develop targeted community plans to address it.

Locally the Sunshine Coast Division of Family Practice has taken on the initiative and recently they launched an on-line community health care survey to find out exactly what problems need addressing on the Coast.

Residents are asked to take the 10-minute survey at www.divisionsbc.ca/sunshine-coast where they are asked questions about their experiences and given room to comment as they see fit.

The survey opened on Sept. 9 and will close on Oct. 11. Following some time to compile the results, the Sunshine Coast Division of  Family Practice will release the findings of the survey to the public.

Survey responses are anonymous and will remain confidential.

The survey marks the start of a two-year project funded by the government of B.C. and the doctors of B.C. meant to help patients who want a family doctor to find one.

It also aims to increase the capacity of the primary health care system and create better support for the needs of vulnerable patients.
