A series of events dubbed Water Dialogues has been scheduled for early June, as part of the Sunshine Coast Regional District’s (SCRD) efforts to communicate with the public about the region’s water situation.

“Sunshine Coast residents are invited to attend these events to learn about SCRD water supply projects, drought management, water conservation, climate change and more,” said communications manager Cecilia Garcia in a release. Residents are also being asked to “give the SCRD board your input on what actions should be taken next.”

The idea for the events was proposed in April by Sechelt Mayor Darnelda Siegers and SCRD directors later voted to spend $30,000 on the outreach project. The SCRD subsequently retained the services of Impact Resolutions Ltd. to organize the public events.

Sessions will be held at the Sechelt Legion on June 3 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and June 4 from and 7 to 9 p.m. On June 5 a session will be held at the Gibsons Legion from 7 to 9 p.m.
