Ryan Chapman finished in first place in the 30 km under 50 men’s division at the 2016 Sunshine Coast Loppet on Dakota Ridge, March 5.
This was the first-ever Sunshine Coast Loppet, and organizing committee member Urs Pfaeffli said they are hoping it will become an annual event. “The soft, slushy snow provided for a very tough race, but everyone proved that adverse conditions were no match to their determination,” Pfaeffli said.
Kids’ courses were set up for the 100 m sprint, 1 km and 2.5 km. The long courses were 12 and 30 km. Winners of the 12 km were John Kitson and Linda Vanderhide. For the 30 km it was Karen Nakagawa and Ryan Chapman.
