The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program will be available again this tax season on the Sunshine Coast.
Volunteers will complete simple tax returns, free of charge, for low-income clients. Income limits are: individual $35,000; family $45,000 for two, plus $2,500 for each additional dependant. Couples are expected to provide complete tax information for both spouses.
The program does not serve clients with employment expenses, self-employment income, rental property income, or capital gains. Interest income must be less than $1,000.
The program operates from March 1 to April 30, unless otherwise noted. Three options are offered: in-person tax clinics, drop-off/pick-ups, and virtual tax clinics.
In-Person Tax Clinics and Drop-off/Pick-up Services:
Sechelt Public Library, 5797 Cowrie St., Sechelt (started Feb. 23). In person: Tuesdays noon to 5 p.m. Appointments: 604-885-3260.
Gibsons and District Public Library, 470 South Fletcher Rd., Gibsons (starts Feb. 26). In person: Fridays noon to 5 p.m. Appointments: 604-886-2130. Drop offs: Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Pender Harbour Community School, 5012 Gonzales Rd., Madeira Park. In person: Thursdays 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Walk in (first come, first serve). Drop offs: Monday to Friday. Drop off through mail slot in door.
Pender Harbour Health Centre, 5066 Francis Peninsula Rd., Pender Harbour. In person: Tuesdays 9 a.m. to noon. Walk in (first come, first serve). Drop offs: Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Drop off at Reception. Or make an appointment – phone Harry at 604-741-5132.
