Simons to deliver dock plan briefing on Sunday

Pender Harbour

The Pender Harbour Advisory Council is holding a town hall meeting and AGM on Sept. 10, and MLA Nicholas Simons is slated to give an update on the controversial Dock Management Plan.

Simons said shíshálh Chief Warren Paull and others from the nation were in Victoria this week for a gathering of First Nation leaders and the new NDP cabinet, and Simons was expecting a briefing from provincial and shíshálh officials in time for Sunday’s meeting.

Simons also said he expects that briefing will include new information.

“I think that there’ll be a good opportunity to update the community on where things are with the implementation,” he said.

Simons will also be ready for questions about the new government’s plans for BC Ferries, highways and the future of long-term care on the Sunshine Coast.

Sunshine Coast Regional District director Frank Mauro is also scheduled to present.

The meeting is from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Madeira Park Community Hall.
