Sunshine Coast RCMP arrested a high-risk offender in Port Mellon last Thursday.
James Patrick Benson was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant, first issued by Vancouver Police earlier last week.
Benson was taken into custody by RCMP yesterday in Port Mellon. Vancouver Police issued an appeal for public assistance in locating Benson after the 30-year-old man failed to return to a halfway house in Vancouver where he has been residing after serving his second federal sentence for offences including a violent sexual assault, attempted murder, extortion, and weapons offences.
