On Tuesday morning, while setting up at the Gibsons Public Art Gallery for the silent auction of Gibsons’ hand-painted banners, volunteer coordinator Connie Johnston discovered that yet another banner by local artist Greta Guzek had gone missing.
Johnston said the estimated time of the disappearance was between the removal of the banners right after Remembrance Day and the end of November when they were handed over to Johnston.
One of Guzek’s other banners was discovered missing in the spring when Johnston was touching up the banners before they were displayed for the summer.
“That banner was treated as a misplaced one, but now with two of them missing, it is being treated as a theft,” Johnston said.
“Guzek’s banners are always guaranteed to get the highest bids when the banners are auctioned off.”
