Sechelt to focus on core activities

Strategic Plan

Sechelt council has chosen three core activities from its strategic plan to focus on in 2017 and 2018: creating a liquid waste management plan phase two review and update, an integrated community sustainability plan and establishing a financial sustainability plan.

“This is the main event. This is exactly what we’ve been working towards over the last couple of years,” Coun. Noel Muller said during the Oct. 19 regular council meeting.

“It is a full-scale revision of our large-scale plans and brings us back on track. I’ve written about the inadequate long-term planning at the District of Sechelt. This puts us back on path to have that type of a plan.”

He said picking three top priorities and pushing forward on them is an “extremely smart model.”

“It’s specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound. It’s an acronym we use to discuss issues like this and it’s all of those things,” Muller said.

“You really couldn’t, if you tried, come up with a better way to spend district resources in trying to get some of the things that we need to get back on track with, and I think this will do it in spades.”
