RCMP have arrested a 49-year-old Sechelt man after several vehicles were struck by large rocks on Friday, Dec. 18.
Police say the incidents occurred around 7:30 p.m. with reports of a male in the 5400 block of Matukwum Lane and Sunshine Coast Highway throwing large rocks at multiple vehicles.
At least three cars were damaged.
Police say the man will be facing charges of mischief over $5,000.
“Thankfully the drivers of these vehicles were able to steer to safety and did not collide with any other cars,” said Const. Karen Whitby. “It was dark out and this is a busy section of the highway. There could have been tragic consequences.”
Police are asking anyone who has not reported damage to their vehicles or has information to call the RCMP at 604-885-2266 and reference file 2020-8708.
