The Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) says it’s returning to Stage 1 water restrictions for users on the Chapman Lake system. Stage 1 also applies for all other SCRD water users.
The SCRD says restrictions will continue until Chapman Lake is fully replenished.
Under Stage 1 sprinklers, soaker hoses, irrigation systems and other watering devices can be used, but only on certain days. For even addresses it’s Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
For odd addresses it’s Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Hand-held hoses with shut-off devices can be used anytime for watering trees, shrubs, flowers or vegetables.
The recent rain could also bring some welcome news for anglers.
The Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) is considering lifting the ban on sport fishing in Chapman Creek earlier than the current target date of Oct. 15 (check the DFO notices website for the latest information: tinyurl.com/j9edkrl).
DFO closed the creek to fishing in August, citing extremely low water levels.
