Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) directors voted at a Jan. 23 committee meeting to move ahead with a review of how they are compensated for their work using an independent taskforce.
They also tweaked the terms of reference, adding considerations for time spent responding to constituents and the burden public exposure places on the personal lives of elected officials and families. Living wage data will be added and the review will consider a flat rate remuneration structure.
All voted in favour of the changes except for Sechelt director Alton Toth. “I don’t think this board should be looking at its own remuneration,” he said.
