The District of Sechelt says work on the road and storm sewer along Trail Avenue has resumed after being put on hold in early February for an archeological investigation.
The work was stopped after the discovery of “possible artifacts” in the construction zone and the district now says In Situ Archaeological Consulting has screened soil from test pits and released the area for continued construction.
The district hasn’t said if the existence of any artifacts was confirmed or what they might have been, but has indicated more archeological investigation will likely be needed in the area between Pebble Crescent and Cowrie Street.
“The results will inform how much additional archaeological work will be necessary,” the district said.
