Rezoning sought to allow build-out of Trail Bay Estates

West Sechelt

Clayton Family Lands Ltd. is seeking to rezone an approximately 5.2-hectare piece of property in West Sechelt to continue building phases 2B to 2E of the Trail Bay Estates development.

The property is currently zoned RR-1 (rural residential) and developers are seeking an R-1 (residential) designation.

The property sits north of the Trail Bay Estates development that’s been built to date on the hillside beside Chatelech Secondary School, at the end of Clayton Avenue.

Clayton Family Lands Ltd. plans to construct more than 40 single-family homes in the area during build-out of phases 2B to 2E.

On Aug. 31, Sechelt council’s planning and community development committee recommended that council give first reading to the requested rezoning.

The recommendation will now go to council for first reading and referral to a public hearing.

Currently Phase 2A of the Trail Bay Estates development is also before the District of Sechelt, sitting at third reading, and the Wesbrooke by the Sea seniors’ development (also planned for the area) is set to come back to council for a new first reading after some major revisions to the project.
