Research project seeks people with dementia

Imagination Network

A new research project is seeking participants living with early stages of dementia to help create a theatrical production co-written, co-produced and co-performed by people living with dementia.

The research project, titled Raising the Curtain, seeks to answer the question “what is the lived experience of dementia?” by collecting the thoughts and perspectives of those affected by it.

The project is being made possible by the Imagination Network, a partnership between Deer Crossing the Art Farm, Christenson Village and Douglas College, and there are information sessions for interested community members coming up soon.

The Imagination Network will hold three sessions, one at the Gibsons recreation centre on May 29 from 1 to 2:30 p.m., one at the Sechelt Seniors’ Activity Centre on June 12 from 10:30 a.m. to noon and one at the Pender Harbour Community Hall on June 19 from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Anyone who’s interested is invited to come out to one of the meetings to learn more about the innovative research project.
