Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for April 21 - 30.
Theft
• Overnight on April 24, a suspect stole a boat and trailer from a property in the 4200 block of Francis Peninsula Road, Madeira Park. The boat is described as a 17-foot-long 2011 ivory-coloured Boston Whaler with a decal on the side saying “Scooter.” The boat had a 50-horsepower blue and black motor and was loaded on a Road Runner boat trailer with B.C. licence plate UAS40S. Several days later, the stolen boat was found on a logging road in the 12000 block of Highway 101, damaged, with several items missing from it, including the Tohatsu XXX, model MD50B2 outboard motor, two electric 1106 Scotty downriggers, two 10-foot-long trolling roads, two Islander mooching reels, a Garmin sonar, chart plotter and engine shifter. Anyone with any information about this theft is asked to contact RCMP, reference file 2018-2476.
• On April 21, between 1:00 p.m. and 1:45 p.m., a suspect stole a cell phone that had been used to play music during an outdoor event at a business in the 700 block of North Road, Gibsons. The stolen cell phone is described as a white Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and was in a black Otter case. Anyone with any information about this theft is asked to contact RCMP, reference file 2018-2485.
Suspicious
• On April 25, police responded to a suspicious incident report after an unknown female entered a work site in the 5700 block of Teredo Street, Sechelt, lit two matches and threw them on the floor before leaving the premises on foot. Fortunately, nothing caught fire, and no damage was reported. The suspect is described as a 50-something female with long red hair, about five feet four inches tall, wearing a blue fleece jacket and shiny navy pants. The female was also pushing what appeared to be an empty stroller. Police made patrols but were unable to locate the suspect.
Collision
• On April 26, police attended a single-vehicle incident in the 6900 block of Sechelt Inlet Road, Sechelt, and located a woman who had lost control of her electric bicycle and ended up under it on the road. Police conducted traffic control while Emergency Health Services assessed the rider, who was taken to hospital for minor injuries. The bike appeared to be undamaged.
Impaired
• On April 29, police initiated a traffic stop with a possible impaired driver on North Road near Stewart Road, Gibsons, and noted the driver exhibiting signs of intoxication. The driver, who advised he’d had his last drinks shortly before driving, was given a roadside alcohol screening test. After a “warn” result, the driver was issued a three-day immediate roadside prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for the same period.
