Sunshine Coast RCMP are urging the public to be vigilant if they are contacted by anyone claiming to be from a business doing water tests.
Police say residents have been receiving calls from an individual saying they need to test the residents’ water due to possible contamination.
“RCMP have spoken with the Sunshine Coast Regional District and they confirm that they have not asked for these tests to be conducted and they have no connection to these companies,” the RCMP said in a release Monday, adding that the SCRD has posted on its website that there is “no lead concern with SCRD water.”
The release notes that the SCRD regularly tests the regional water and the results are posted on its website at www.scrd.ca.
Police are advising the public to “ask questions and do their own research into the legitimacy of these businesses before giving out personal information or inviting sales people into their homes.”
