Sunshine Coast RCMP detachment members were joined by their spouses and children to sing Christmas carols with the residents of Shorncliffe and Totem Lodge last Sunday.

Residents of Shorncliffe and Totem Lodge care homes were treated to some surprise musical talent last Sunday afternoon.

Many members of the Sunshine Coast RCMP detachment along with their spouses and children got together to sing Christmas carols with the residents.

Pauline Gicquel, manager of resident care services at Totem Lodge, thanked the police on behalf of staff and residents for the time spent with them.

Lissa Parry, the activity coordinator from Shorncliffe, said some residents who normally don’t attend these functions made an effort to come down and see the group sing.

“The police who were there with their families and children made it feel like a family event,” Parry said.

To add to the entertainment, Const. Tessa Cameron played the violin while Cpl. Aaron Janzen’s wife Erin accompanied them on the piano.

“It was a rewarding and enjoyable time for the members who were able to attend and we look forward to making this a yearly tradition,” said Sgt. Mike Hacker.
