RCMP seek suspect in hand ‘slashing’ incident

Officers attended the incident and paramedics were also on scene following a 911 call received at approximately 5 a.m. 

Sunshine Coast RCMP are seeking assistance from the public in identifying a suspect who used a knife to slash someone in an underground parking lot in Sechelt.

A man “slashed a victim in the hand with a knife after being confronted” in a parking garage at approximately 4:30 a.m. Thursday, according to an RCMP release

The incident occurred on the 5600 block of Wharf Avenue on a mixed commercial and residential property. 

RCMP officers attended the incident and paramedics were also on scene following a 911 call received at approximately 5 a.m. 

The man is described as white with a stocky build, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall. He has missing teeth, a moustache and “short stubble beard,” according to the release. He was wearing a blue rain jacket and dark clothing and carrying a “grey multi-coloured backpack.”

Anyone with information, including possession of video surveillance of the area between 4 and 5 a.m. on Dec. 29, is asked to call the Sunshine Coast RCMP detachment at 604-885-2266. File reference No. 2022-8556.
