Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Feb. 11 to 18:

Impaired Driving

• On Feb. 15, an off-duty police officer observed a Dodge Ram pickup truck speeding and passing multiple cars across a double solid line in Robert Creek. The truck was heading toward Sechelt and pulled out several times across the double solid line and sped past cars driving at the posted speed limit. A report was called in to police in Sechelt, who stopped the vehicle in the 5500 block of Sunshine Coast Highway. Police detected the odour of alcohol and after first stating he had not drunk alcohol in 10 years, the driver admitting to drinking beer earlier that evening. The driver provided two samples of his breath into an approved screening device with a “fail” result. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days and the driver issued a 90-day roadside prohibition. Documents were forwarded to Road Safety BC.

Shoplifting

• On Feb. 18, three suspects were observed on surveillance video stealing jeans and shoes from a clothing store in Sunnycrest Mall, Gibsons. Items stolen are valued at between $500 and 800. Police are continuing their investigation to identify the suspects from the video.

Lost Property

• A Sechelt resident called police to report she had lost her wallet with identification. The wallet was described as blue/green/gold with a triangle design. If anyone has located this wallet, please call police. File 2019-870 relates.

Hit and Run

• On Feb. 15 at approximately 10:45 a.m., a Sunshine Coast resident returned to his car after shopping in the 1100 block of Sunshine Coast Highway. The shopper noticed that his car had been struck resulting in dents and scratches to the rear passenger side. There was no note or witnesses to the collision. If anyone has information, please call police. File 2019-916 relates.
