Sunshine Coast RCMP officers conducting foot patrols of Davis Bay and Friendship Park pier in Sechelt on Aug. 18 and 25 seized crab traps that were in the water with no supervisor and no name or phone number marked on the traps contrary to Fisheries Act rules and regulations.

Thefts
On Aug. 17 in the early morning a Sechelt resident noticed an unknown female inside his parked vehicle in the 5700 block of Ebbtide Street. The female had been rummaging through his vehicle and stole his sunglasses when he confronted her. The female fled the scene on her bicycle. RCMP will be examining some items left behind to potentially identify the suspect. Suspect described as a white female in her 50s with long white hair and a slim build.
On Aug. 17 two separate residents in the 5700 block of Ebbtide called to report that someone had stolen items from their patios overnight. No witnesses to these offences at this time.
Sometime between Aug. 7 and 8, a suspect gained entry to an unlocked vehicle parked in 5700 block of Dolphin Street, Sechelt, and stole a silver Hewlett Packard Pro-book 450 G4 laptop. The serial number for the stolen laptop computer is 5CD7134GM2 and it has a disc drive. Anyone with any information about this theft is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2019-5742.
Overnight on Aug. 22, a suspect gained entry to a locked vehicle parked in the 600 block of Shaw Road, Gibsons, and rummaged through the contents, stealing documents, a pair of red suede high-top shoes, a blue Helly Hansen windbreaker and some prescription medication. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2019-5758.
On Aug. 19 a Sechelt resident called police to report a Nissan 9.8hp outboard motor had been stolen from his property in the 6400 block of Sunshine Coast Hwy.
Impaired Driving
On Aug. 19 the RCMP received a report of a collision in Lamprey Lane in Sechelt. A grey Honda civic had mishandled a turn and ended up on top of a cement barrier. Driver was showing symptoms of alcohol impairment and admitted to consuming alcohol. The driver was arrested for Impaired Driving and Prohibited Driving as the driver was currently bound by a driving prohibition related to a previous impaired driving offence. Charges of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle have been forwarded to Crown Counsel. The driver was released on a Promise to Appear for court. The file is still under investigation.
Hit and Run Collision
On August 24, at around 5:45 p.m., a hit and run occurred at a parking lot in the 4300 block of Highway 101, Sechelt. The suspect driver, a 50-something Caucasian female in a white SUV with a possible partial BC licence plate of FK69, was witnessed pulling into a parking spot and colliding into a parked silver vehicle in front of her. The suspect looked at the damaged vehicle's driver before reversing and fleeing the scene without stopping to exchange any information. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2019-5817.
Assist Windsurfer
On Aug. 22, a witness reported a windsurfer who'd fallen off his board in the waters off Davis Bay Road, Sechelt, who appeared to be having some trouble. Police were able to locate a boat and owner who was willing to assist and rowed out to the windsurfer. The windsurfer, who appeared fatigued, advised he'd gotten tangled up in the kite apparatus and was unable to get back onto the board. The windsurfer was able to get into the boat with his gear and rowed back to shore where Emergency Health Services stood by to assess him.
Found Property
On Aug. 22, several photo albums found in Sechelt were turned in. The albums contained documents referencing a Langley, BC, school. Owner may claim within 90 days with a detailed description. Please reference police file 2019-5748.
