Officials from the provincial government and shíshálh Nation will host a public meeting on Pender Harbour’s draft dock management plan on Saturday, June 13, at the community hall in Madeira Park.
Details of the meeting were released late Tuesday by the Pender Harbour Advisory Council, and the shíshálh Nation’s participation was confirmed Wednesday by the Band’s communication coordinator, Michael Morgan.
The meeting is set to start at 1 p.m. and will include a presentation by the provincial government and shíshálh Nation, followed by a one-hour question-and-answer period.
The draft plan was released in April and has generated heavy pushback from the community, prompting the formation of a dock management plan working group.
On May 25, a petition asking for consultation with the Pender Harbour community was presented in the B.C. Legislature by Port Moody-Coquitlam MLA Linda Reimer with almost 2,000 signatures.
The deadline for comments has been extended to June 24.
