Sunshine Coast RCMP is seeking the public's help after several reports of thefts of Thormanby Island.
Police released details of the thefts last week, which occurred between Sept. 22 and Sept. 23. According to police, unknown suspect(s) attended the northeast side of Thormanby Island and attempted break-ins to nine cabins. Suspect(s) entered two cabins and stole three generators.

On Oct. 12, suspect(s) broke into The Brick store in Gibsons.

A five-motor-vehicle accident occurred in a parking lot in the 5700 block of Cowrie Street in Sechelt after a driver hit the gas pedal instead of the brake while attempting to pull into a parking spot and struck a parked, unoccupied vehicle.
The driver continued to mistake the gas for the brake and ended up hitting another two more unoccupied vehicles, and one that was backing out of a stall. Fortunately, damages were minor and no injuries were reported.
On Oct. 30, a resident in the 1200 block of Largo Road reported an attempted theft of his goat after scaring off a group of youth he spotted jumping into a truck and driving away quickly. Police located the suspect vehicle and spoke with the occupants who admitted being at the property, but that they were just wanting to pet the goat.
Paramedics reported a possibly impaired driver heading into Sechelt from Selma Park, after witnessing the vehicle swerving all over the road. Police located the suspect driver and vehicle on Wharf Road, but the driver did not immediately pull over though lights and sirens were activated to get the driver's attention. The driver exhibited signs of impairment and failed a roadside alcohol-screening test. He was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition (IRP) and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
While patrolling Highway 101 near Norwest Bay Road, two police officers noticed a vehicle that appeared to be speeding in excess of 80/km in a 60/km zone. The vehicle was stopped at Mills Road and the driver, who admitted to drinking, was given a roadside alcohol-screening test, and failed. The driver was given a 90-day IRP and her vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
Police attended to a vehicle in the ditch at Laurel and Bay roads and spoke with the uninjured driver who admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the evening. The driver advised he'd lost control of the vehicle when making a turn onto Bay Road. The driver failed a roadside alcohol-screening test and was given a 90-day IRP and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
On Oct. 31, an off-duty officer detained a male she'd witnessed kicking and damaging property in the 5700 block of Teredo Street. The intoxicated male was arrested and taken to cells until sober. He was issued a violation ticket for being Intoxicated in public and is being charged with mischief.
