Police seek help with Surrey thefts

Sunshine Coast RCMP are seeking the public's help with information after a theft on the Queen of Surrey in Langdale early last Saturday morning.

According to RCMP, in the early hours of Sept. 4, an unknown suspect(s) entered the Surrey, which was moored for the night at the Langdale dock. The suspect(s) removed an ATM from the passenger level and attempted to load it onto a waiting boat. The ATM broke loose, fell into the water and the suspect(s) fled the area in a small zodiac style boat. The ATM was located and recovered later that same day. ??

RCMP are also investigating a theft of zodiac from the Smith Road area of Langdale that occurred overnight on the same date. Police believe these incidents are related.

The public's assistance is being sought in identifying any person(s) that may have been in the areas noted above during the hours of 1 and 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 4. This request for assistance would include any boating activity observed in the entire Gibsons/Langdale areas during the hours in question.
