CRA Scam Alert

• Police have received multiple complaints from Coast residents of all ages who had received threatening phone calls or voice mail from scammers pretending to be either from the police or the Canada Revenue Agency. The scammers try to convince people that there is an issue with their income taxes and if not resolved immediately (usually through payment via iTunes or other gift cards, or other unusual methods of payment), a warrant for their arrest would be issued. This is a very common, long-running scam that resurfaces regularly. To learn more about the various Canada Revenue Agency scams, please visit https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/corporate/security/protect-yourself-against-fraud.html.
