Fraud

• On Oct. 16, a Coast resident reported a fraud after losing a large sum of money in an effort to borrow money from a lending company he found online. The resident was told that in order to receive the loan, he first had to deposit funds in a specified account as a form of pre-payment. The resident did as he was told but then was told by the “lender” that the funds hadn’t been received and that the loan would not be processed. Subsequent attempts by the resident to discuss the matter with the lender have been unanswered and the resident is unlikely to be able to recover his money.
