Scam
• On Feb. 23, a Coast bed and breakfast owner reported an attempted overpayment scam after the scammer contacted the B&B by email pretending to be interested in booking a room for a considerable period. The scammer then sent the B&B owner a cheque for almost double the booking cost, and then told the B&B owner the overpayment was by mistake and asked the B&B owner to return the excess. The B&B owner grew suspicious and took the money order to his bank and confirmed it was a very authentic looking fake.
