Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Jan. 3 to 10:

Mischief

• Early on Jan. 3, a vandal threw a rock through a window of a business in the 400 block of Marine Drive, Gibsons, but it doesn’t appear the suspect gained entry to the premises. Police are reviewing surveillance video footage.

• Overnight on Jan. 6, a vandal damaged a window at a building in the 400 block of Gower Point Road, Gibsons, by cutting the seal with a razorblade. It appears the suspect was attempting to remove the window to gain access to the premises, but no entry was gained.

• Overnight on Jan. 7, a suspect used a tool and damaged the lock on a vehicle parked in the 700 block of Gibsons Way, Gibsons. The suspect gained entry but did not steal any of the items left inside. The matter has been referred to ICBC.

Found property

• On Jan. 6, a Sony Vaio laptop was found on Norvan Road near Mason Road, Sechelt. The owner may claim within 90 days with detailed description. Reference file 2017-71.

• On Jan. 9, a Nakamura mountain bike found in the 5800 block of Black Bear Road, Sechelt, was turned in. The owner may claim within 90 days with detailed description. Please reference file 17-128.

Drivers

• On Jan. 7, an anonymous witness reported a possible impaired driver leaving a business in the 5500 block of Wharf Avenue, Sechelt. While no plate number was obtained, the witness was able to provide a detailed description of the vehicle, driver, passenger and direction of travel. Police located the vehicle and noted the driver exhibiting signs of impairment. The 32-year-old male driver was given and failed a roadside alcohol screening test and was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

• On Jan. 9, a hit and run was reported on South Fletcher Road, Gibsons, after one driver, while attempting to parallel park, backed into the corner of a second vehicle that came up behind him. The driver of the second vehicle got out and checked his own vehicle for damage before getting back in his car and driving away. The first driver, whose vehicle also sustained some damage, was unable to take down any of the second vehicle’s information. The matter has been referred to ICBC.

• On Jan. 6, a police officer witnessed a vehicle swerving from side to side onto the shoulder of the road in the 5000 block of Highway 101, Sechelt. Police initiated a traffic stop with the possibly impaired driver. The driver, who was not impaired, advised he’d been distracted after spilling his hot coffee. The driver was issued a violation ticket for driving without consideration.
