Incident report for Aug. 23 to 30
Thefts
• Between Aug. 15 and 23, a thief stole a 2016 FLS Harley Davidson Softail that was locked and parked at the Madeira Park Harbour in the 12900 block of Madeira Park Road. The black motorcycle had after market white wall tires with spoke rims, one leather saddle bag on the right side, MPF short pipes with Screaming Eagle jet kit and a medium windshield. The B.C. licence plate was S84558. Anyone with any information about this theft is asked to contact RCMP, reference file 16-5504.
• Between Aug. 20 and 21, a thief stole two new Sunshine Coast Regional District signs from a public dock in the 15400 block of Sunshine Coast Highway, Ruby Lake, Garden Bay. The signs read that the dock was for public use, maximum boat moorage time was 20 minutes, no diving and use at your own risk. Anyone with any information about this theft is asked to contact RCMP, reference file 5543.
Hit and runs
• On Aug. 23, a hit and run was reported in the 5600 block of Cowrie Street, Sechelt, after a witness advised the owner of the first vehicle that a second vehicle had driven into the driver side of the parked vehicle hard enough to make a crunching noise, before backing up and circling the block to park a few cars behind the damaged vehicle. Police located the suspect vehicle and driver, who admitted to the incident but did not believe she had caused any damage to the first vehicle. The driver was issued a violation ticket for failing to stop after a collision with an unattended vehicle.
• On Aug. 25, a hit and run was reported on the Langdale bypass after a large U-Haul truck cut in front of a vehicle in the left lane, clipping and damaging the passenger-side front fender. The vehicle driver and passenger tried to flag down the truck driver, an older white-haired male, but instead of pulling over to trade information, the U-Haul continued on without stopping. The vehicle driver was only able to get the first two letters of the licence plate, “AD.” The matter has been referred to ICBC.
Collision
• On Aug. 24, police attended a single motorcycle incident on Redrooffs Road near Fisherman Road, Halfmoon Bay. A witness advised the motorcyclist lost control after doing a shoulder check, veered off the road and into a ditch. The motorcyclist was treated for minor injuries by the Halfmoon Bay Volunteer Fire Department and then taken to hospital by Emer-gency Health Services for assessment.
Mischief
• Overnight on Aug. 25, a suspect gained entry to two unlocked vehicles parked in the 700 block of Park Road, Gibsons and rifled through the glove boxes and centre consoles. Nothing was reported stolen and there was no damage to the vehicles.
• Also on Aug. 25, an unlocked vehicle was rifled through in the 500 block of Spyglass Place, Gibsons. Again, nothing was stolen or damaged.
• Late on Aug. 24, a witness saw a truck pull up to the fence at a property in the 7800 block of Redrooffs Road, Halfmoon Bay and an unknown suspect shine a flashlight onto the property. The next morning, a large hole was discovered cut in the mesh fence. Nothing appears to have been stolen.
• On Aug. 23, a cell phone found in the 5700 block of Nickerson Road, Sechelt, was turned in (file 2016-5510). On Aug. 28, a musical instrument and audio equipment were found in the 300 block of Gower Point Road, Gibsons (file 2016-5713). Owners can claim with detailed description within 90 days.
