On Oct. 13, a shoplifter stole some property from a business in the 5700 block Cowrie Street. A witness had alerted staff of the theft but the suspect fled on foot before he could be detained. Police are reviewing security footage. ??
Between Oct. 7 and 13, a thief broke in to a shed in the 600 block of Harmony Lane. This is the second such incident in recent weeks. Nothing was stolen in this instance; however, there was property damage. ??
Between Oct. 13 and 14, a thief stole approximately 25 bundles of standard black roofing shingles from behind a building in the 5600 block Cowrie Street. Due to the volume of shingles, it is believed a truck would have been used to transport the stolen goods. ??
Late on Oct. 14, residents in the 5600 block of Cowrie Street were awakened by noise from the street and witnessed a thief breaking into their unlocked vehicle. One of the residents ran after the thief but was unable to catch him. The suspect, described as a young Native male, was wearing a black toque, gloves and a red plaid jacket. He stole a black 30-gig iPod from the car and left behind a shoebox containing a new pair of runners. The attending officer located more new shoeboxes nearby, as well as a pair of worn shoes. Anyone with information about this theft is asked to contact RCMP, reference file 10-8144. ??
Sometime overnight Oct. 14/15, vandals used rocks to break a number of windows of a building in the 5600 block Cowrie Street. No entry was gained to the building, and nothing was stolen. ?
On Oct. 15, staff at a business in the 4300 block Highway 101 thwarted a shoplifter after the suspect tried to leave with several unpaid items in cloth bags. The staff member was able to take back the goods, but the suspect, a middle-aged Caucasian male, approx six-foot, balding with dark hair and a short beard, fled down the road. He was wearing a black leather jacket and black jeans. Police are reviewing surveillance footage. ??
A two-vehicle incident occurred on Highway 101 west of Conrad Road after a vehicle was unable to stop in time to avoid hitting the vehicle stopped in front of it. The at-fault driver was issued a violation ticket for following too closely and was taken to hospital for minor injuries. Both vehicles had to be towed. ??
On Oct. 14/15, a thief broke in to an unlockable vehicle parked in the 5500 block Inlet Avenue and stole a wallet that had been left in the console. Other items in the vehicle were thrown about, but nothing else was stolen.
