The annual Scotia Bank and BC SPCA Paws for a Cause held on Sunday, Sept. 10, attracted about 80 human participants and about 50 dogs, and raised $21,009 for the Sunshine Coast branch of the SPCA.
Manager Cindy Krapiec said all the money raised at the event will be used locally to offset the day-to-day costs of running the shelter.
The Paws for a Cause has been held for several years; this year’s walk started at Hackett Park and went along the waterfront for a total of about a 20-minute walk. Participants also enjoyed a hot dog barbecue and games at various vendor booths.
