Paddling for the Peace

Site C Dam

Candace Campo led over a dozen local participants in Paddle for Peace from Porpoise Bay Park to the head of Sechelt Inlet and back again on Saturday, July 9.

The aim was to raise funds for Aboriginal communities fighting to stop the Site C dam in the Peace River region. There was drumming and singing before the protest and a bannock and salmon picnic in the park afterwards.

The Site C Dam is a project by BC Hydro for a large-scale earth fill hydroelectric dam on the Peace River in North-Eastern B.C.
