Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Sept. 10 to 17:
• On Sept. 11 just before noon, an attempted dognapping occurred at a residence in the 5800 block of Spindrift Street, Sechelt. The suspect, a heavy-set blond-haired woman in her mid-40s, exited a white older model SUV and approached a tethered dog in the front yard with a leash in hand. She tried to put the leash on the dog when the owner exited the house and confronted the suspect. The suspect fled but unfortunately, the dog owner was unable to obtain a licence plate. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2019-6359.
Suspicious circumstances
• On Sept. 11, a suspicious male was reported in the 400 block of Aldersprings Road, Gibsons, after a resident received a knock on the door from a male trying to sell three potatoes he was carrying in his hands. The resident declined and the male, described as heavy-set Caucasian in his 40s with frizzy brown hair, left in an older model white van. Other residents in the area reported similar incidents. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2019-6361.
Found Property
• On Sept. 12, a large stash of assorted tools was found near the Trail Bay Mall, Sechelt. It is likely most of these items are stolen. Owners may claim with detailed description within 90 days. Please reference police file number 2019-6395.
• On Sept. 10, a camera found at Smugglers Cove, Halfmoon Bay, was turned in to police. Owner may claim within 90 days with detailed description. Please reference police file 2019-6329.
Theft from ATM
• On Sept. 12, a Coast resident started an ATM transaction at a bank in Gibsons and decided to cancel the withdrawal. It appears the transaction wasn't properly cancelled and the next person to use the ATM completed the withdrawal, stealing the funds. Police are reviewing surveillance footage to identify and locate the suspect. The file is still under investigation.
Missing Boat
• On Sept. 16, police received a report that a 26-foot MacGregor sailboat named Sweet Water was missing from the front of a residence in the 6400 block of Gale Avenue North, Sechelt. If anyone has any information or has seen this boat, please call police and reference file 2019-6497.
