A Sechelt man will spend 14 days in prison for robbing the Lighthouse Beer and Wine Store on July 17.

Sunshine Coast RCMP arrested 30-year-old Jeremy Joseph Glover on July 20 in connection with the robbery. Cpl. Steven Chubey said video surveillance showed Glover trying to leave the store with unpaid merchandise hidden in his clothing.

A staff member tried to block the thief's exit, but was unsuccessful.

"Glover was remanded in custody and on the 25th of July, pled guilty to breach of probation, resisting arrest and theft under $5,000, receiving a 14-day sentence," said Chubey in a news release.

Chubey said Glover gave a false name when officers questioned him about the robbery and when he was told he was under arrest he ran from police.

"A foot pursuit engaged and then eventually he [Glover] gave up running because he was exhausted," Chubey said, noting the breach of probation plea was due to Glover not reporting to his parole officer on another charge.

A second robbery on July 17 of the Gilligan's Beer and Wine Store remains under investigation.

RCMP are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the male suspect who grabbed a large bottle of alcohol, pushed over a staff member and fled the premises.

The suspect is described as being a medium built tanned male in his mid-30's. He was wearing a baseball cap and green hooded sweatshirt during the robbery that occurred shortly after 8 p.m.
