The North Shore Service Canada Centre for Youth (SCCY) has filled 107 summer job vacancies over the past two months in North Vancouver. And its services extend to the Sunshine Coast as well.In addition to their goal of filling 200 jobs in North Vancouver, the North Shore SCCY has set a goal of filling 50 summer jobs in the Sunshine Coast service area before closing on Aug. 18.
"This is the perfect time for employers and homeowners to hire young people," said Lauren Webb, Youth Services Officer in a news release. "Young people are still available for full-time and part-time positions, as well as odd jobs around the home or business."
The North Shore Centre has been very active so far.
"We have helped 952 young people improve their job search skills. We have also worked with various community organizations to provide summer job assistance to young people. It's been a great summer," said Webb.
Service Canada Centres for Youth link youth and employers. The Centres provide employers with a location to post job openings and young people with job postings, interview advice, résumé building and job search strategies. SCCYs also provide valuable information on health and safety in the workplace.
