Environment Canada says the Sechelt Airport recorded one of several record highs set Sept. 10 as a system of high pressure continued to dominate weather in southwestern B.C.
Thursday’s high of 28.9 C beat the previous mark of 26 C set in 2007.
With temperatures expected to cool off in the coming days, Environment Canada ended the special weather statement for the Sunshine Coast, but the area remains under a smoky skies advisory first issued on Sept. 8.
The Sunshine Coast is one of the regions the provincial environment ministry said in the updated advisory is likely to be impacted by wildfire smoke from the U.S. in the coming 24 to 48 hours, but noted “wildfire smoke concentrations have continued to drop over the past 24 hours except for a few isolated areas.”
